Les Yeux Fertiles Gallery, 27 Rue de Seine 75006 Paris
Established in 1903 in Sudbury, Suffolk (the centre of the British silk industry) Gainsborough is amongst Britain’s last remaining silk weaving houses. Its founder, Reginald Warner, travelled widely in Europe collecting historic fabrics and laying the foundation of an archive which today is one of the UK’s leading textile libraries.
Alongside the historic swatches, every fabric that Gainsborough has ever woven is also sampled and minutely detailed within the design archive, creating an extraordinary resource that countless designers have drawn on for both interiors and fashion.
Showing at Paris Déco Off:
The Grand Masters Collection
Drawn from Gainsborough’s remarkable archives, the new Grand Masters Collection covers a wide range of historical references, especially those fabrics that have been widely used and loved over the decades. The 21 designs in the collection are all available from stock in several colourways.
Gainsborough’s talented in-house design team is widely used by clients wanting to commission their own unique fabrics. These range from one-off original designs to new interpretations of historic designs from Gainsborough’s exceptional archive.
