Fellow Royal Warrant Holders, The Goring Hotel, London, recently reopened their newly refurbished Dining Room. Gainsborough was delighted to contribute to the project led by Interior Designer, Russell Sage.
The breath-taking cloth of choice was none other than Saluté, woven in an elegant green silk as the drapery throughout.
The Saluté design has long been a favourite of Russell’s. One of Gainsborough’s earliest entries dating back to 1903, this elegant large scale baroque design was woven originally as a heavy weight silk. Much weightier and more robust than a silk damask due to the addition of extra wefts on the reverse, and thereby perfect for sumptuous drapery.
The design was much too beautiful to stay hidden in the archive and was reintroduced to Gainsborough’s mainstay collections as the centrepiece of ‘Saluté’ – Gainsborough’s most sumptuous collection to date.
The Goring Hotel is one of London’s most affluent and has welcomed the country’s royal and parliamentary leaders since opening its doors in 1910.
Gainsborough had the honour of contributing to the refurbishment of the hotel’s individualistic suites and was delighted to do so once again for the Dining Room. The combination of the Saluté in green and Fromental’s hand painted walling creates an opulent and entertaining setting. Perfectly tailored to the hotel’s signature quintessential and slightly eccentric Britishness.
With special thanks to The Goring Hotel and Russell Sage Studio.
Saluté is available to purchase by the metre in four stunning colourways: Titanic Green, Obsidian, Taupe and Porcelain.
